     German smallbore sporting rifles hold a special allure for many people, and are continually becoming more collectible. This single-shot bolt action example is proofmarked Eagle-N and Staghorn, from 1964. Metal condition and finish appear near perfect. 21" barrel has a hooded front ramp and adjustable rear sight; bore is crisp and bright. Stock is solid and crack-free. Wood benefits from a recent application of hand-rubbed oil finish. Checkering and borders are crisp and attractive. There are a few small pressure marks and dings in the wood. Plastic buttplate has a few chips in the peaks of its serrations. At just five pounds and five ounces, this is a desirable and handsome rifle of which anyone can be proud.
